Pioneer in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Engineering Education and Research
PICT was established in 1983 under the aegis of SCTR with a vision to be the leader in higher technical education and research of international repute. PICT is an elite academic institute and believes in value-based quality education and research in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for the last 39 years. Considering the need for Computer Engineers globally, our great visionaries started the Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) program in Computer Engineering (CE), in the year 1983. PICT is the first private self-financed institute to start a UG CE program in Maharashtra. About 39 years ago, visionary leadership foreseen the explosive growth of computer, ICT and built PICT to be the world class institute without deviating from the focus towards ICT even though they had a choice to expand the institute horizontally with other conventional engineering streams. Since then, it has been contributing to the economic growth of India and the world by producing competent ICT professionals.
PICT is constantly endeavouring to achieve higher levels of technical excellence in ICT by offering under-graduate (UG) programs in CE, E&TE, and IT; and post-graduate (PG) programs in CE, Data Science, Electronics & Communication (Wireless Communication Technology), and Information Technology. In addition, PICT has a research center offer PhD programs in CE and E&TE.
PICT strives to create ICT professionals of global acceptance and achieve an outstanding reputation thereon. All the academic, administrative, curricular, co-curricular, extracurricular, and training beyond the curriculum activities are meticulously planned towards achieving these goals. The following outcomes of these goals and activities carried out thereupon portray the institute’s performance in the area of ICT.
Admissions:
PICT is the most sought-after institute in the area of ICT for aspiring engineering students across the state of Maharashtra. It has been attracting gifted individuals since its inception. The admissions for all the UG programs are 100% with a high cut-off about 97.8 percentile in MHCET and with a rank below 3300 in 2021-22.
ICT Infrastructure
Institute deployed state-of-the-art ICT tools in classroom and laboratory learning since its inception. The institute adopted ICT enabled teaching-learning processes by providing the required infrastructure in addition to traditional classroom teaching.

Academics at PICT are run through a well-planned academic calendar with strict adherence. Institute has institutionalized OBE processes with a structured academic hierarchy. In addition to the SPPU curriculum, departments conduct various training and certificate programs to enhance students’ skills hence employability. Faculty members have been very quick enough to adapt to the latest innovative pedagogical practices using ICT and implemented them in classroom and laboratory teaching and learning.

Professional Society Activities
PICT campus is technically vibrant with a lot of activities throughout the year, supported by professional societies like IEEE, ACM, and CSI. Student chapters of these societies organize many technical events and won the best student chapters.

Collaborations
Institute has been consistently collaborating with reputed academic institutions and industry to provide exposure to the latest technological developments and real-time industry practices. Institute signed functional MoUs with 51 organizations.
Research and Development
Research has been one of the focus areas of the institute. Institute encourages and motivates all the faculty and students to carry out research in cutting-edge technological areas by providing the required infrastructural facilities. PICT has been receiving research projects/ funds from various government and non-government agencies. The total grants received is Rs. 1.81 Cr towards research, STTP/FDPs, value addition, and consultancy from various agencies. Research Cells/groups are formed to streamline the research in domains. Currently, 46 plus patents are filed and published by student and faculty members out of which 13 patents are granted. Total 168 papers are published by our faculty members in reputed journals over the last five years.

Performance in University Results
The academic results of PICT are the best among all the colleges affiliated to Savitribai Phule University (SPPU). Average percentage of final results is 98% for the last five years. Our students bagged many of the top ten ranks at university level examinations across all the programs. Four of them went on to win the Gold Medals for their best performance at university examinations.

Extra and Cocurricular Activities
The PICT art circle is one of the top cultural groups known for its talents & achievements. The activities include but are not limited to: Art, Drama, Debate, Dance, Singing, & quizzes. Our students have bagged many prestigious awards, prizes, & medals in technical, sports, and cultural events.

Student Participation, Awards in Competitions
There are clubs/groups like ROBOCON, GameDevUtopia, DRONE, SIGs, BUDDYs, Automobile (Electric Racing Cart), Debate, TEDx, MUN, etc. PICT student actively participates in national and international level technical competitions. Every year 50% of the participating teams from our institute won the prizes of worth about 20 Lakhs, in Smart India Hackathon at national and international level. Our Institute topped the list all over india in Smart India Hackathon 2019. One team from our institte bagged the runner up prize of $10,000 in better helath global hackathon. PICT ROBOCON Team stood 4th in 2014, 11th in 2017 and 14th in 2018, 13th in 2019, and 6th in 2022 at the National ROBOCON Contest.

Training and Placements(T&P) Cell
The cell further facilitates training activities and nurtures the students throughout their graduation in study for them to be able to successfully face the interviews and to become global citizens. Training activities include soft skills, life skills, competitive coding, aptitude, and AMCAT. PICT has an illustrious placement record of placing 2900 students at an average of 75.91% per year, and contributing to the growth of ICT over the last five years. In academic year 2021-2022 the average salary was 11 lakhs and 102 companies visited the campus for recruitment.

To inculcate and encourage research culture, are set up. Under these cells, 3 products are developed in-house, and 16 companies are incubated so far.

PICT Alumni Association (PAA) is proud of its heritage in delivering excellence in technical education and research and cherishing the enunciated glory of more than 10000 alumni in diversified segments, especially in ICT.
